X Y Data Pick and Place Data

The following data is required for manufacturing purposes. Below are examples and brief explanations of what we require:

XY Data / Pick and Place Data

This file gives the placement position of each part in 'Mil' or 'mm'. It is normally a TXT or CSV file which is generated by the PCBCAD layout package.

This data can be either in Imperial or Metric format although Metric is preferred.

Note: On FIGURE 1, the gravitational centre of the part is the point at which the SMD machine will place the component. i.e. The component reference should be in the centre of the part.

See FIGURE 1A as an example of what this file must include.

B.O.M.

A good Bill of Material should show:

1) Reference Designator. i.e. R1, R2, C1 etc.
2) Part description. i.e. 100nF.
3) Part shape. i.e. 0805.
4) Quantity of parts.
5) Component manufacturer if required. i.e. Philips etc.
6) Preferred vendor.

B.O.M. should preferably be supplied in EXCEL format.

See FIGURE 2 below.

PCB Overlays and Silkscreens
These are primarily used for confirming that the Silk Screen data supplied by the customer matches the physical board layout Silk Screen.
Also it is needed if the actual PCB is too densely populated to have Silk Screen markings on them and then they are used as a reference. Must include:

1) A general physical shape profile of each component.
2) Circuit reference number.

Silk Screens should be supplied in PDF format.
